






[SMMHot Topic] 2024 Automotive Export Report Released
According to data compiled by SMM from CAAM, China exported 5.859 million complete vehicles from January to December 2024, up 19.3% YoY, with an export value of $233.82 billion, up 11.7% YoY. Among them, NEV exports reached 1.284 million units, up 6.7% YoY, while traditional fuel vehicle exports totaled 4.574 million units, up 23.5% YoY. This achievement not only set a new historical record but also demonstrated the strong competitiveness of China's automotive industry. Data source: CAAM, SMM

Anhui (953,700 units), Shanghai (798,900 units), Hebei (587,700 units), Zhejiang (499,200 units), Chongqing (473,400 units), Jiangsu (413,800 units), Guangdong (354,900 units), Shandong (309,500 units), Beijing (243,600 units), and Shaanxi (237,800 units). Data source: CPCA, SMMIt is worth noting that, based on past data, Shanghai has consistently held the top spot for annual automotive export volume. Thanks to its advantageous location at the mouth of the Yangtze River and the product strengths of local companies such as SAIC and Tesla, Shanghai ranked first in annual automotive export volume from 2019 to 2023. However, in 2024, Shanghai's automotive export volume was approximately 798,900 units, down 9% YoY. Among them, SAIC's automotive export volume in 2024 reached 1.082 million units, but some products were exported from its Zhengzhou and Ningde bases. In 2024, the inland province of Anhui replaced Shanghai as the top automotive exporting province, with an export volume of approximately 953,700 units. while NEV manufacturers such as BYD and Geely emerged as new highlights in the market. As the leading automaker in terms of export volume, Chery exported a total of 881,541 units in 2024, significantly ahead of other brands, with its export volume exceeding the combined total of the second-place MG and third-place BYD. Leveraging its extensive product line and comprehensive sales network, Chery achieved remarkable success in markets such as Russia, Brazil, and Egypt. Despite being a key target of EU tariffs,

also delivered an impressive export performance in 2024. With its deep expertise and technological advantages in the NEV field, BYD successfully introduced multiple NEV models to international markets. According to CAAM data, BYD's annual export volume reached 433,000 units, up 71.8% YoY, securing its position among the top three exporters.
